Both Deceased Students Named in the Ivy League School Attack as Police Persist in Search for Gunman.

Two students who lost their lives in the weekend's violent attack in Providence had tributes paid to them on Monday – while an intensive search for their shooter persisted following the discharge by authorities in Rhode Island of the single suspect of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, according to the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a ceremony on Sunday.

The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the Ivy League university, according to relatives.

Umurzokov’s identity was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a online post.

The Shooting Incident

Nine other people were hurt in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Authorities said by the end of Sunday that a man aged 24 detained in a search at a hotel about around 27 kilometers from the campus earlier in the day was being released.
