Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the upcoming Young Athlete of the Year award.

The trio have been honoured for their outstanding achievements over the past 12 months.

Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a record-breaking innings.

Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his breakthrough year.

The shortlisted athletes were unveiled on a national radio breakfast show.

The champion will be announced during a live broadcast on the Sports Personality of the Year show on Thursday, 18 December.

The show will be aired from 7 PM GMT.

Michelle Agyemang

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Just three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to winning the Euros.

She was introduced as a substitute to score crucial late equalisers in both the quarter-final and semi-final.

Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.

Later in the year, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the finest emerging star on the continent.

She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.

Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.

"To be named a finalist for this award is incredible," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm appreciative of the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."

Littler's Profile

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler's 2025 began in sensational style as - aged 17 - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.

He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.

His success continued - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, breaking the previous record.

"Earning a spot on the shortlist for the honour once more is a big honour," stated Littler. "Winning last year was a highlight for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."

Perrin's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and burst into the spotlight with an unbelievable and unprecedented innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the run-scoring charts and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm incredibly grateful to be shortlisted for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it encourages more young females to get into cricket."
